Privacy Policy
1. Who We Are
AgriGeo Spaces NPC ("AgriGeo", "we", "us") is a non-profit company registered in South Africa (registration number 2024/666888/08), registered at 1101 Etienne Street, Equestria, 0184. AgriGeo's purpose is to advance sustainable and productive agriculture among smallholder and commercial farmers in South Africa by making data-driven insights, advisory support, and access to relevant skills development available to farmers who would not otherwise have access to them. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA").
2. What Personal Information We Collect
We collect:
- Farmer and farm-worker identity and contact details (name, phone number, email address, physical address).
- On-farm data, such as water levels, soil moisture and nutrients, climate and weather conditions, production volumes, infrastructure condition, and household/farm demographics.
- Platform usage data.
- Where relevant, training-referral data shared with accredited training partners when a farmer is referred for skills development.
We do not collect any other personal information without your consent.
3. Why We Collect It
We use your information to:
- Analyse farm- and community-level conditions and provide tailored, farm-specific advisory recommendations (e.g. soil management, irrigation scheduling, crop selection, input use).
- Facilitate referrals to accredited, independent training providers where a need is identified through our Needs Assessment process. AgriGeo is not itself an education or training provider — it does not design, deliver, assess, or certify any training, and holds no accreditation with QCTO, any SETA, or SAQA. AgriGeo's current training partner is Mabatau Group (Pty) Ltd, trading as MSE Training.
- Facilitate market access — a platform feature in development to help participating farmers connect with buyers.
- Operate, maintain and improve the platform.
In line with POPIA's purpose-specification requirement, we only use your personal information for the purposes described here, or for a purpose compatible with them.
4. Who We Share It With
We may share personal information with:
- Accredited training partners — but only the information of farmers who have been referred to them.
- Infrastructure and hosting providers who process data on our behalf.
- In future, buyers on the market-access feature — only with the farmer's consent.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share your name or contact details with any other third party without your permission.
5. How Long We Keep It and How to Request Deletion
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. Once data is no longer needed, we securely delete, de-identify or destroy it. You may request deletion of your personal data at any time, and we will honour that request unless a lawful reason requires continued retention. Full detail is set out in our Data Policy.
6. How We Protect It
We protect personal information using encryption of data at rest and in transit, role-based access control, multi-factor authentication, audit logging, and secure, access-controlled infrastructure. Full technical and organisational detail is set out in our Data Policy.
7. Your Rights Under POPIA
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to update or correct inaccurate information.
- Deletion or objection — request that we delete your personal information, or object to our processing of it, subject to any lawful reason for continued retention.
